"Cicada Remnants" by Loralee Clark

Cicada Remnants

A husk
without its own energy,
momentum;
aimless in its
wind-tumbling
as it floats away on the water
light and airy
carried along by buoyancy
to one day sink back
into the earth
thick with sleep
saturated
and purposeful.
